Rule of thumb: install the skills that save you 30 minutes a day first, then chase the fancy stuff.

The Core Shortlist

  1. Shell / terminal skills — run tests, tail logs, restart services (add a command allowlist)
  2. Git skill — branch summaries, diff walkthroughs, commit message drafts (auto force push forbidden)
  3. Browser skill — open previews, capture console errors, run smoke-test clicks
  4. Docs / code search — locate interfaces and TODOs across a monorepo
  5. Issue Tracker — turn error reports into assignable issue drafts
  6. Calendar / reminders — release windows, on-call countdowns

Recommended Install Order

  1. Read-only search skills (lowest risk)
  2. Write actions behind confirmation (create branches, open PR drafts)
  3. High-privilege Shell (approval + audit log mandatory)

Safe Defaults (Non-Negotiable)

  • Reject arbitrary rm -rf and reads of production secrets
  • Write actions default to dry-run / require confirmation
  • Secrets live only in environment variables, never in chat logs

Combo Plays

"Fix a production 500"
Reproduce in the browser → search logs → pinpoint the commit → open an explanatory branch → generate the PR description

"Ship every Friday"
Change summary → checklist → notify the channel → rollback notes
